I’m trying very hard to curtail my passion for fashion “collecting” — my kids call it hoarding — but I am seeing some steal-worthy designs ideas in online fashion catalogs this season that have me thinking hmmm. My focus has been online courses for crochet: https://learn-to-crochet-with-victoria-carrington.teachable.com/.
I try to encourage students to apply their own design aesthetics to their work as we go over techniques. I’m amazed and thrilled at what they are able to do.
You’ll catch me showing off the work of my students on the regular – almost like a virtual crochet gallery, a dream come true for me! You’ll also catch me showing off my children (above) and grandchildren (and other relatives and friends) modeling those fashions. All the things I love in one photo.
I love to see what you are working on, so share your photos (and yes, sneak in your grandchildren or your dog)!!!
The last half of 2019 brought unexpected news that on the surface seemed devastating.
Community Education was dropped due to funding. There would be no fall crochet classes.
At the same time, my health was deteriorating and it culminated in multiple diagnostic procedures and visits to specialists. I had surgery not long after after my last post in October (hence the long silence). I was down longer and harder than I want to admit.
Ultimately, in hindsight, the cancellation of fall classes was a hidden blessing. I physically couldn’t have taught classes. Thankfully the surgery successfully solved some long-standing medical problems and I was able to take some time to heal. I realize now it took some major divine intervention for all of that to occur with such synchronized timing.
It also pushed me toward taking years of crochet material to create my course online in a virtual classroom.
This is an ideal format for so many reasons:
No more cancellations due to weather
No more being locked out of classrooms or having to search for the correct room
Neither one of us will ever be late
You can learn at a time, place and pace that’s convenient for you
You have lifetime access to the material
You can replay videos as often as you need to review
You can ask questions any time you need extra help
With videos, I can demonstrate crochet up close, without breathing down your neck
I’ve been working hard on this class and I’m excited to launch in this format. After months of work, this online class will go live this weekend!!
Keep checking back and I’ll release some free material here on this website to show highlights of this class. The Advanced Class is next to be uploaded and I hope my improved health and stamina (plus more experience doing this) will help to make this class available very soon!
